Woke up late... Readings readings and readings... It was like 5sth when I received Stephen's call for dinner... AH, we are like long time no see, so we met up at the Zhijing Canteen at 6...
We talked a lot, from courses to teachers, then classmates and gatherings, and even the dormitories situation in Tsinghua...
Stephen is a very lovely boy from Zhongqing... He's a local student in the GBJ07 class, but he speaks very good English... Besides, he has been to HK for internship last summer in Merril Lynch... And he is really cute... very very cute...~~
I asked the question of why did Tsinghua never built better dorms for the students, and why all bathrooms are outside the buildings at the local dorms. As a international standard university, it's facitilites shouldn't be soooo primitive...
There he said...
Chinese people are taught to save water, electrity, resources, and even SPACE ever since they are young. There are too many people in this country, and all should learn to save it's essence. That's why there is like light curfew / water curfew here in the school. There's really no much 24 hours services in China, and that's its uniqueness. It doesn't like HK / Singapore, have the lights ON every minute, making pollution and wasting energy.
Besides, since there are too many people in China, it is neccessary that all the individuals should be able to live peacefully with their neighbours. This is one reason that undergraduates are put into the 8-people room, while even doctorate students have roomates. This is a means for students to learn how to get along well other people. Which, he agrees, is much more important than 'privacy'. And of course, all these phenomenons do shocked the foriengers.
To be internatinal, yet to keep it's uniquess, and this is what China represents in the world.
WOOOOH!!
He really told me lots which I DON't know or ever think of!! TKZ~~!! for asking me out for dinner...
